Legislative News: YOUR phone calls to our elected officials are making a difference.   Keep it up!

A new tax proposed.  February, 2012.  Leave it to the Florida Legislature to propose a new tax during a recession – and one that they have questionable constitutional authority even to enact.

This Thursday 2-9-2012 morning the Senate Subcommittee on Finance and Tax, chaired by Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff,(850) 487-5100 will propose SB 7206 for consideration. This bill would institute a new sales tax on Internet purchases if the retailer uses affiliates or referrals in the state. This bill aims to tax transactions by companies like Amazon, and has been proposed in a number of other states.  Despite what the bill’s proponents would like people to think SB 7206 is a tax increase through and through and we must put a stop to this bad bill!

Florida House Bill HB 4013 repeals the requirement that fuel in Florida contain at least 9 percent ethanol.    House Bill 4013 passed a House committee despite opposition from managers of planned ethanol plants.   The Vote was 10 to 4, with republicans voting to end the ethanol requirement and all democrat representatives voting to continue the boon doggle of inefficient energy and an unprofitable industry that would not exist without taxpayer subsidies.

The bill now is in the Florida Senate, as Bill SB 238.

Committee Chairwoman Nancy Detert,  R-Venice, said she understood the problems with ethanol, but thought the bill should keep some requirement in place.   "I just don’t want to hurt the businesses that are in place to offer us renewable energy ideas," Senator Nancy Detert (R) said.    Taxpayers call this Crony Capitalism.

United States Marine Corps Best Joke of the Year

A Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an
Iraqi terrorist who was badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.

The Marine reported, I was heavily armed and moving north along the
highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road. I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scum bag who got what he deserved. and he yelled back that Barack Obama is a lying, good-for-nothing, left wing Commie who isn't even an American. So I said that Osama Bin Laden dresses and acts like a frigid, mean-spirited lesbian! He retaliated by yelling, Oh yeah? Well, so does Nancy Pelosi!

And, there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands, when a truck hit us.

Democrats Against UN Agenda 21
The plan is called United Nations Agenda 21 Sustainable Development, which has its basis in Communitarianism.  By now, most Americans have heard of sustainable development but are largely unaware of UN Agenda 21.

In a nutshell, the plan calls for governments to take control of all land use and not leave any of the decision making in the hands of private property owners.  It is assumed that people are not good stewards of their land and the government will do a better job if they are in control.  Individual rights in general are to give way to the needs of communities as determined by the governing body.
